Irene is originally from Liberia and is currently a nursing student in our ASN program. She has and continues to think of those less fortunate in her home country. Each semester she collects old, unwanted nursing text books from instructors and the hospital library and sends them overseas to a nursing school in Liberia. The students there are overjoyed to receive them. Irene typically pays for the shipping herself, which can be quite expensive. She continues to work as a lab technician while attending nursing school classes. She is very dedicated and compassionate. She says she spends her money on this project because she wants to be a blessing to her homeland. She certainly is that to the nursing students of Liberia, as well as to every patient she comes in contact with in this country.
